About Me:

I have been playing Rocket League since it came out on Xbox and for a couple of months on PC. I have been top 100 in 2v2 and 3v3 on Xbox many times. I have put in 4,000+ hours into RL and have learned many ways to help improve your performance. I have also been in countless Youtube montages and love to freestyle and go for crazy mechanical shots. I have done some community coaching before and have a good system to help you improve your Rocket League capabilities!

When you book a session with me this is how it will go:

  1. Once you book a session we will get in contact and set up a day and time to have to session. I will then ask you multiple questions about you and your Rocket League experiences to help me understand where you are at and what I need to work on with you as well to answer any questions you have for me.
  2. I will also need a replay of one of your games. I need a replay where you play at your average (Not where you do really good or really bad). I will work with you on how to send a replay. I will watch the replay and look at all the plays and decisions made in the game even the small things you might not be aware of.
  3. We will then apply those things we learned in the replays by doing some private matches against me and some other players. Then go over those replays as well (it might take a bit longer for the session to be scheduled if you want to do the private matches).
  4. Once we do all that and the session is complete, I will summarize everything that was taught and learned. I will also point you to some training packs and exercises you can do to improve on your own.

    Preface:
We had been watching professionals play, and had been working on our rotations and gameplay as much as we could on our own. This was our chance to see how well we had done so far and see if there was anything more we could do to get better even faster.

One of our team members had previously purchased a 1-on-1 training session with another (completely different) coach, which could only be described as subpar.

So with that experience in mind, we went into this session with Coach Fakey with our fingers crossed, hoping that this coach had the stuff we needed to take our game to the next level.

    Our Coach Fakey Experience:
We started the session by getting a professionally delivered rundown of what we would cover during the session, as well as had the opportunity to provide Coach Fakey with our own personal thoughts on where we thought we were strong, and where we could improve.

Armed with that knowledge, and a replay of a previous game we had recorded and sent to him, we began our amazing adventure.

As we went through the replay together via screen share, Coach Fakey complimented us on many things that we had done right, pointing out our tight rotations and synergy that we shared as a team. As the game progressed, there were a few mistakes made, and Coach Fakey would go through each of them, explaining what we could have done differently and how that could have changed the outcome of the situation to be in our favor. One thing that was stressed the entire game, was the importance of comms. Not just letting your teammate know that you’re going for the ball, but location, energy level, pass expectations, and so on. He went on to point out the things that we did wrong, that seemed small at the time but are often many times the difference between a win and a loss, a goal and a save. As the replay continued, it was obvious that our offense was pretty strong, but our defense was exceptionally lacking. Our tight rotations had fallen apart, and double commits started to occur. Coach Fakey worked with us to explain how we could communicate better in these instances, and where each player should be on the field in each scenario. He then explained different ways we could improve our mechanics and ball touches, a different twist on training packs; not meant so much for scoring goals but putting the ball where you want, when you want, and how you want. We ended the session by having several scrimmage matches (setup by Coach Fakey) with players that were ranked slightly above us. This was our first chance to put our newfound knowledge to the test! Coach Fakey warned us, that winning or losing didn’t matter during this scrimmage, but instead it was a chance for us to confirm the things we had just learned and put them to use while he was there with us.

Game 1 happened, and we ended up beating ourselves! (0-2). We knew what we were supposed to do, but our bad habits outweighed our newfound knowledge. Coach was on the comms with us during the first game and pointed out afterwards that we were practically dead silent on the comms. Doh! Game 2, we took Coach Fakey’s locker room talk to heart and started to play how we knew we could. Our communication improved and we squeaked in a win (2-1). Game 3, the final game of the 3 game scrimmage series, the previous hours of coaching had finally started to sink in and our communication was on point. We could tell the other team had kicked it up a notch too and wasn’t holding anything back. Again, we came out with a well deserved win (3-2).

    The Aftermath:
Since the coaching session, our 3 man team has continued to play together, improving our teamwork, rotations, and communication. Anytime we’ve had questions, Coach Fakey has responded to us on Discord giving us the answers that we needed.

I spent a lot of time writing this review because I believe that we have gotten the absolute best that Rocket League coaching has to offer in Coach Fakey. We want anyone reading this to have that experience as well.
